PIERO CLEMENTE GARREFFA
Presented by Arts Eleven

Marios, 303 Brunswick Street, Fitzroy
4 - 24 March 2025

Since 2006, Piero Clemente Garreffa has presented solo and group exhibitions. In 2020 sold out show with Lily Mora’s Sunday Salon. A graduate of the Master of Fine Art program at RMIT University (2021) under the supervision of Dr Steven Randal, his work has been featured in The Design Files and has been recognised for his artistic excellence as a finalist for the Paul Guest Arts Prize (2018) at the Bendigo Art Gallery and the Pro Hart Outback Arts Prize (2024) at Broken Hill City Art Gallery. Currently an artist at Fenton & Fenton, Piero’s work is held in esteemed private and public collections across Australia, Italy, the UK, Spain, and Germany.

My work reflects the deep thread that ties me to the lands of my ancestors, Calabria and broader Italy, where the echoes of Magna Graecia still whisper through the mountains, the sea, and the stories passed down through generations. These ancient narratives live within me, shaping my hands as I paint, photograph, and mould clay.

Now, in a place where my blood has no history, I carry these stories forward. I navigate the tension between old and new, between belonging and displacement. Through my work, I honour the past while making sense of the present, proving that the ancient lives within me no matter where I stand.
